Do you want to support NOVAM? It's as easy as 1, 2, ... 10! Want to help but not sure what to do? Check out these 10 easy ideas! 1. Spread the word. Tell your friends and family about who we are and how we serve the community. Not sure how to get started? Gather together your friends from the community to learn about NOVAM and support our programs. 3. Shop. If you shop online using Give Back America, Goodshop or iGive, a percentage of each purchase is donated to NOVAM. 4. Search. Forget Google! Use iSearchiGive or Goodsearch for your next query and you'll automatically be sending 1 to 2 cents NOVAM's way every time you search. 5. Donate a monetary gift in honor of a friend of family member's birthday, graduation, or other special occasion. 6. Walk, run, or ride. Ask friends and family to sponsor your next run, bike race, or walk-a-thon in support of NOVAM. 7. Make a gift that keeps on giving. You can set up a recurring monthly, bi-monthly, or yearly gift through NOVAM's website. 8. Recycle. Send your used printer toners, ink cartridges, and cell phones to NOVAM. Each item we recycle brings money back to the organization. And it's good for the environment! 9. Volunteer. Opportunties are available all year round, from delivering Thanksgiving baskets, to helping with special events, to administrative assistance. Many companies offer matching gift programs. To find out if your company will match your gift to NOVAM, contact your personnel, human resources, or community relations department. Then send your company matching gift form to: NOVAM You can also support NOVAM in your workplace giving campaign. United Way #8284/Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) #20583 GIFTS OF STOCK Publicly traded securities such as stocks and bonds can be transferred to NOVAM as your gift. Gifts of stocks and bonds entitle you to a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities, and you avoid capital gains taxes. MEMORIAL GIFTS If you wish to make a donation in memory of a deceased family member or friend, NOVAM will acknowledge your thoughtful remembrance with a letter to the loved ones of the deceased. You will receive a confirmation letter. The amount of your gift is shown only on your confirmation. IN-HONOR OR TRIBUTE GIFTS If you wish to make a donation in honor of someone, NOVAM will send a letter to the honoree acknowledging your thoughtful gift. You will receive a confirmation letter. The amount of your gift is shown only on your confirmation. LEGACY GIFTS The simplest form of a legacy gift—one that is left to a charity in your will—is known as a bequest. Bequests often allow an individual to make a more significant gift than what may have been possible during his or her lifetime. A bequest has several advantages: In a simple bequest, you give a stated gift amount to NOVAM to be used where the need is greatest. Simple bequest language might read as follows: I give and bequeath to the Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry (NOVAM) (Federal Tax ID# 54-1421559), a charitable organization duly existing under the laws of the Virginia and located at 803 W. Broad Street, Suite 700, Falls Church, VA 22046, $________________ (indicate either the dollar amount of the gift, the percentage of your estate, or a description of the securities or real property you wish to donate) to be used as directed by the NOVAM Board of Directors to the area of greatest need.
